Rob Somma is a Design and Manufacturing Engineer at Somma Tool Company in Waterbury, CT. He began his employment in 1997 assembling tool holders and operating various machines. In 2004, he graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since that time, he has worked in the engineering department doing primarily design and support for broaches and form tooling. He has also served as chair for the Naugatuck Valley Chapter of the PMPA and is currently serving on the IT and Technical Program Committees.

Rob will present an overview on the processes, materials and coatings involved in creating a broached feature. He will also provide direction on how to set up a broach and identify some tips for troubleshooting. And, there will be a live, on-machine demonstration of broaching an internal hex form.

Rob is an expert on form tooling - be sure to bring your broaching and form tool problems and questions!

This meeting will be of particular interest to your foremen/supervisors, engineers and shop floor personnel. Plan on bringing these folks to what promises to be a very informative presentation and demo.
