OVERVIEW - Who Should Attend:
Six classes with over 8 hours of hands-on training targeted for precision machining shop floor personnel.

SESSIONS:
1) Metal Cutting Technology Class: This year's metal cutting class will focus on giving participants a deeper understanding of the application of High Pressure Coolant technology. Understand how improved metalworking fluid delivery can improve chip breaking and tool life in general turning, drilling and milling by using HPC tools and technology.
2) Hands-on Floor Demonstration: The group will make the transition from the classroom to the shop floor where they will see a high pressure coolant demonstration in turning, drilling and milling applications.
3) Metalworking Fluids: This class will give machinists an overview of metalworking fluids and what must be understood to optimize machining. The session will provide a review of principles and best practices for optimum productivity in a variety of applications.
4) Spark and Spot Testing for Material Sorting: This class will provide a demonstration of "shop expedient" methods that can be used to confirm the chemical identity of a sample of metallic material. These methods are not a replacement for chemical certifications, maintaining proper material and identity control, nor an efficient means of analyzing each and every individual part. However, these methods can be used to validate and confirm the chemical pedigree of the material used in a particular batch or lot. A short overview will be provided in the classroom prior to this hands-on demonstration.
5) Print Discussion: Attendees will be given a print to start the session. The objective of the session will be to identify and discuss the challenges of the part and the many ways to consider those challenges from an engineering, operator, and quality standpoint. The focus will not be on how quickly the part can be produced, but rather on the ‘risk assessment’ that must be taken into account for successful production.
6) A Metals Vocabulary for Shop Success: This class will review the terms you need to understand to be successful in y our craft. Each participant will receive a USB Flash Drive with "tools you can use" from PMPA. Including the overview of the session and additional handouts from this conference.
