OVERVIEW - Who Should Attend:
Four classes with 6 hours of targeted training for precision machining shop floor personnel.
1) Metallurgy for Machinists - This class will give machinists a better understanding of materials and their impacts on our processes. The class will give a real-world vocabulary of what we need to effectively communicate between shop, estimating, purchasing personnel, and the customer.
2) Classroom – Floor Demonstration
3) Print Discussion – Attendees will be given a print to start the session. The objective of the session will be to identify and discuss the challenges of the part and the many ways to consider those challenges from an engineering, operator, and quality standpoint. The focus will not be on how quickly the part can be produced, but rather on the ‘risk assessment’ that must be taken into account for successful production.
4) Technical Problem Solving / Tools Used and Lessons Learned – What is an hour of lost machine time worth? How about a day, a week, or a couple of weeks? This class will review PMPA ‘tools you can use’ to maximize uptime. Machining questions that have been asked in the past will be reviewed to show the power of having a list-serve and to share the lessons learned from these unique machining issues.
