Threads and Burrs

Any machining in a threaded surface will create a burr problem. For instance, a slot, a milled flat, or a cross hole will often produce heavy burrs. Sometimes these can be eliminated.

Figures 1, 1A and 1B illustrate various burr problems, and possible solutions for each are shown in Figures 2, 2A and 2B. By using one of these designs, burrs can be minimized or burr removal facilitated.
