Hugh Hewitt, Law Professor and Broadcast Journalist
"The Political and Cultural Climate of the United States"
Hugh Hewitt is a law professor and broadcast journalist whose nationally syndicated radio show is heard in more than 120 cities across the United States every weekday afternoon. Mr. Hewitt is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Michigan Law School, and has been teaching constitutional law at Chapman University Law School since it opened in 1995. Mr. Hewitt is a frequent guest on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, and has written for the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times.
He is best known as the host of his radio show, which has an audience estimated at 2 million listeners every week. Since its debut in July of 2000, Mr. Hewitt has conducted ground breaking interviews with government officials from both parties and widely-respected analysts, authors and pundits. Hugh Hewitt served nearly six years in the Reagan administration in a variety of posts, including Assistant Counsel in the White House and Special Assistant to two Attorneys General.

Frank Gaffney is the Founder and President of the Center for Security Policy in Washington, D.C. Mr. Gaffney is also the lead-author of War Footing: Ten Steps America Must Take to Prevail in the War for the Free World. With a foreword by former CIA Director R. James Woolsey, an introduction by Victor Davis Hanson, and contributions from thirty-two other accomplished security policy practitioners, this highly-acclaimed volume constitutes an "owner's manual" for the new global conflict in which America finds itself engaged - the War for the Free World. Mr. Gaffney also contributes actively to the security policy debate in his capacity as a weekly columnist for the Washington Times, TownHall.com, and JewishWorldReview.com, and others. He is a featured weekly contributor to Hugh Hewitt's nationally syndicated radio program and a frequent guest on syndicated programs.
In April 1987, Mr. Gaffney was nominated by President Reagan to become the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy. He also served as Chairman of the prestigious High Level Group, NATO's senior politico-military committee. Mr. Gaffney represented the Secretary of Defense in key U.S.-Soviet negotiations and ministerial meetings. From August 1983 until November 1987, Mr. Gaffney was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy. Mr. Gaffney holds a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.

Amity Shlaes, Senior Fellow for Economic History, Council on Foreign Relations and Best-Selling Author
"How 1933 Gave Us 2008"
Amity Shlaes is a Senior Fellow for Economic History at the Council on Foreign Relations. Within the Center, Ms. Shlaes works specifically on Geoeconomic Studies, where she is examining the relationship between commodity wealth and entrepreneurship, with a focus on Russia and India. Amity Shlaes is also a columnist on issues surrounding the political economy. Her work is syndicated by Bloomberg and appears in publications such as the Chicago Sun-Times, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in both print and electronic media.
In the Spring of 2007, her book The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression was published by Harper-Collins and Jonathan Cape. It is a U.S. Bestseller and in its 10th printing. Her previous book released in 1999, The Greedy Hand: Why Taxes Drive Americans Crazy, was also a national bestseller. A journalist for more than two decades, Ms. Shlaes was an editorial board member at the Wall Street Journal in the 1990's. Her work has appeared in a diverse collection of journals including: The New Republic, National Review, New Yorker, Financial Times and Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Ken Mayland, President of ClearView Economics, LLC
"When Might the Economy Turn the Corner?"
Dr. Ken Mayland is President of ClearView Economics LLC, a firm specializing in economic research and forecasting. He was previously the Chief Economist of two major financial institutions (First Pennsylvania Bank and KeyCorp). Graduating with degrees in Economics from MIT (undergraduate) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.A. and Ph.D.), he has spent more than thirty years studying the business cycle and providing economic analyses to a variety of constituencies. Dr. Mayland is a member of the Blue Chip Economic Forecasters and Financial Forecasts survey panels and several wire service and newspaper survey panels.
Dr. Mayland is frequently quoted in the local and national media. In the first half of 2006, USA Today identified Dr. Mayland as one of the nation's top ten forecasters for 2005, and in December of 2006, Business Week determined that he was the number one most accurate forecaster for 2006. In 2007, he won the Lawrence R. Klein Award for Blue Chip Economic Indicators forecast accuracy. This award is presented by Arizona State University for the person who best forecasted real GDP, CPI Inflation, the unemployment rate, and the three-month Treasury bill rate over the four-year period 2003-2006.
