PMPA President Victor DaCruz: PMPA Update

Wednesday October 23, 2019

Greetings Fellow PMPA Members,

On October 12, 2019 at the Annual meeting held at the Bellagio Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, I was formally introduced as the new President of PMPA.

I feel proud and privileged to receive this honor; this responsibility does not fall lightly upon me.  I pledge to our membership and staff to respect and honor the values and ideals which have been instilled in this organization for the past 86 years.  These values and ideals have been upheld by many and have built the Precision Machined Products Association to what it is today.  I will do my best to keep its traditions and uphold its status as the premier association which helps its members to adapt and thrive while advocating for the success of the precision machining Industry.

The PMPA has been in existence since 1933 and has been a strong and healthy association. Now, we would like to learn from the past, accelerate growth, and take advantage of the ever-growing excitement at PMPA.  Under the leadership of Michael Reader, we have entered and formally signed a Management Services Agreement (MSA) with the Gardner Metalworking Association Services (GMAS).   GMAS will provide this service in conjunction with their parent company, Gardner Media Group. The purpose of the agreement is to provide all deliverables as previously administered by headquarters, ensure our financial stability, increase our value proposition, and provide a clear roadmap for the future of the association.

In January of next year, our Strategic Planning Committee will meet to plan the next phase of the GMAS agreement as well as future deliverables. We strive for additional and improved services for our membership, as well as our very important partners, the Technical Members.

One of our strategies will be to strengthen our Chapters and provide more local participation, especially for those members who don’t normally attend National Meetings. We fully intend to bring you more opportunities to engage your key, or up-and-coming, personnel by providing educational sessions that they can attend locally at minimal cost.

Lastly, I want to thank Mike Reader, the Executive Committee, Miles Free and PMPA staff, as well as the Gardner Business Media group for their service and their commitment to the PMPA. The amount of time and effort put forth by these individuals this past year cannot be overstated, especially those made by Mike Reader, whose leadership and planning skills were amazing in his relentless pursuit to lay the appropriate groundwork for the future of the Association.

Finally, I want to personally thank you, our members, for your support of the PMPA and your patience as we have worked through the challenges of making this important transition. I look forward to meeting you at our next Update Conference in Atlanta or at your local Chapter President’s Round Table Meetings. I look forward to conversations about how the PMPA can support your needs and concerns which affect your business and/or our industry.

Thank you and best regards,

Victor DaCruz
