PMPA Business Trends February 2025

Conflicting data points toward optimism for the future. Sentiment remains elevated and positive. The average hours worked continue to increase. PMPA member shops are busy doing work that matters.  February Business Trends Index came in at 131, a 5.1 percent drop from January. Even though Sales declined in February when compared to January, shops are still working. On average they are working overtime.  Business conditions are turbulent currently, which can lead to pessimism.  Shops continue to report a positive outlook and are working overtime.  There was an awareness that 2025 could start slowly, but it is time to dig in and push through.

PMPA Business Trends January 2025

The January 2025 Report on Business Trends  comes in at 138. Despite a rocky start, the sentiment remains significantly positive pointing to our bright future.  January sales are down when compared to the last five years but are up when compared to the long-term January average.  Several outside factors are weighing on sales for our shops but a solid bounce from December shows we are on the recovery from our end of year correction.  Remember 2024 was our third best sales year ever recorded even with the dip, to close out the year.  While there are challenges ahead, sentiment for sales and profitability are riding high.  This survey saw the lowest number of respondents expecting declining profits in a survey since before 2021.  Good things are to come.
