Bob Drab has worked in the specialty steel industry for over 35 years and is now breaking ground in the carbon and alloy steel industry. He has held positions in a variety of capacities that include R&D in powder metallurgy and non-destructive testing, mill manufacturing positions in melting, forging, and bar finishing, along with customer support positions for power generation, high temperature machining bar and tool steel applications, and machinability support for many specialty alloys. He is currently employed at PMPA member company Corey Steel Company as a Quality Manager. His role at Corey includes the ISO quality system, mill & customer support, as well as product development.
Bob will discuss how to effectively and efficiently machine stainless steel. He will focus on tooling and optimal cutting conditions, time tested methods of cutting costs through more aggressive machining, and will introduce comparisons of the machinability of carbon and alloy steels to stainless.
